Just before Christmas, C-Span's Brian Lamb interviewed Lancastrian Matthew Pinsker, author of the new book, "Lincoln's Sanctuary: Abraham Lincoln and the Soldiers' Home.'' That interview rumbled around in the Scribbler's brain as he read the book this month.

There are several terrific stories about Lincoln in Pinsker's groundbreaking work about the summer retreat at the soldiers' rest home in north Washington, a place that became Lincoln's Camp David.
