She was a 1933 graduate of the former Mount Joy High School, took accounting courses in Harrisburg, and received a certificate in Bible Classes from Moody Bible Institute in Elizabethtown. Doris enjoyed reading and was a baseball and football fan, her favorite teams being the Phillies and Dallas Cowboys.
