Summary


TO THE EDITORS:

I was in my backyard last night, enjoying the lightning bugs. I got to thinking, what a wonderful world this is: State Sen. Vince Fumo going to prison for 20 years and the end of the U.S. Rep. John Murtha franchise. I reflected upon how much better the state Legislature operated at one-half the original size; the repeal of the midnight pension larceny that shamed the commonwealth. Everybody seems to like the new state constitution that actually addresses the funding of the black holes that we face and the enactment of a law that spares seniors from the prospect of losing their homes over property taxes. (The abolition of all unfunded mandates was a nice touch.)
