Summary
J Lester Keener, 93, of Elizabethtown, fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on Nov. 7, 2011 at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim. Born in Lincoln, Lancaster County, he was the son of Benjamin and Frances Keener. He was married to Esther Sue (Fink) Keener for 69 years. As a member of Mount Calvary Church, Elizabethtown, he served as a Sunday School teacher, usher, avidly supported foreign missions, served on the church board for 24 years and faithfully attended services. He and his wife became legal guardians of Larry and Sue Buckman (while their parents were missionaries in Brazil). He farmed until retirement; he, also, worked for Lester Roland Paving and Kunzelman's Creamery.
Lester is preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Joy Ann; and brothers, Lehman, Wilbur, Elvin, John and James. He is survived by five children, J Harold, husband of Marie Keener, Elizabethtown, David L., husband of Janet Keener, Aspers, PA, Marilyn, wife of Michael Sanders, Chambersburg, Melody, wife of Buddy Howard, Pasadena, MD, Mim, wife of Clair Miller, Elizabethtown; 14 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren; and sisters, Rhoda Good, Ruth, wife of Arthur Miller and Ettie, wife of Dick Miller.See the full content of this document
