Sister Marcia Marie Burger, OSF, 91, died in Assisi House on December 3. She had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 70 years. Sister Marcia Marie (Catherine Elizabeth Burger) was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where she was a member of St. Joseph Parish. She graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School and entered the congregation in 1937.

Sister Marcia Marie earned a B.S. in Business Education from Marywood College, Scranton, Pennsylvania, and an M.A. in Business Education from the College of St. Rose, Albany, New York. She ministered in both elementary and secondary education and in congregational ministry. Sister Marcia Marie ministered in the Diocese of Harrisburg for 42 years, working at York Catholic High School; Lancaster Catholic High School; and St. Joseph School, York. She also ministered in Philadelphia; Trenton; Baltimore; Bally, Pennsylvania; and Roxbury, Massachusetts. In 2005 she moved to Queen of Peace Convent in Aston and volunteered at Our Lady of Angels Convent until shortly before her death.
